Google’s new search options are expanding on image search and web search. The biggest addition to arrive is custom date range setting outlined in the red box below:
This feature is a great resource to monitor ranking trends for target keywords. If you are new to SEO, or have a client in a new vertical, you can not only research the search space as it exists today, but you can also see the evolution of the results dating back over the years.
After testing some keywords that I have years of knowledge on I’ll admit that the tool is about 90% – 95% accurate. For example, I know my companies brand was ranking #1 on Google last year, but it has us listed as #2. This is not a big deal, or unexpected, considering the amount of data Google is pooling to gather this data. Just know that rarely is any tool on the web 100% accurate all the time.
Thanks again to Google for putting out another great resource for us webbies to use!
